The Pine Apartments, located at 804 S. Fourth Street in Hamilton, Montana, is a Moderne-style residential building completed in 1938, notable for its innovative structural system rarely applied to residential construction of its era. The stuccoed exterior and flat roof exemplify the streamlined aesthetic of the style, while the building's concrete post and beam structure with stucco panel infill on the first floor represents an experimental approach to design and construction. The building's completion involved a transition in ownership and construction management: Leland Wells initiated work in 1936, but budget constraints led the Ravalli County Bank to assume control and engage local contractor Howard Bates to finish the project. A five-bay flat-roofed garage at the rear of the property is a contributing structure to the listing, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
