Princeton station, located on the Princeton University campus in New Jersey, serves as the northern terminus of the Princeton Branch, the shortest scheduled commuter rail line in the United States at 2.7 miles. Built in 1865 in the Collegiate Gothic style and listed on both the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places, the original 1918 station closed permanently in 2013 to make way for relocation. The new permanent station, designed by architect Rick Joy and opened in November 2014 approximately 460 feet south of its predecessor, connects commuters to NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor Line and peak-hour Amtrak service via the shuttle train familiarly known as the "Dinky."
