Designed by Cass Gilbert and completed in 1927–1928, the R.C. Williams Warehouse is a ten-story Modern Movement building in Chelsea, Manhattan, occupying the west side of 10th Avenue between 25th and 26th Streets. Built as headquarters for the R.C. Williams Company, a wholesale grocery firm, the 215,000-square-foot structure features a concrete façade articulated by projecting columns dividing the surface into regular bays—a design approach Gilbert refined from his concurrent work on the Brooklyn Army Terminal. A distinctive siding on the third floor once provided direct access to the High Line freight railway for efficient loading and unloading operations. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, the warehouse was converted to educational use when Avenues: The World School opened within it in 2012.
