Designed by Ralph Rapson and completed in 1971, the Rarig Center is a brutalist theater and media facility anchoring the University of Minnesota's West Bank Arts Quarter in Minneapolis. The building contains four distinct performance spaces—a thrust stage, proscenium theater, theater in the round, and black box—along with studios for Radio K. Its bold, functional design has earned both admiration for its architectural ambition and criticism for its imposing, sometimes menacing appearance.
