Raymond James Stadium is a multi-purpose venue in Tampa, Florida, designed by Populous and opened in 1998 as a public replacement for Tampa Stadium. With a seating capacity of 69,218—expandable to about 75,000 for special events—it serves as home to the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of South Florida Bulls football team. The stadium is distinctive for a replica pirate ship positioned behind the north end zone seating. Named after the St. Petersburg-based financial services firm Raymond James Financial, which has held naming rights since its opening, the stadium has hosted three Super Bowls (XXXV in 2001, XLIII in 2009, and LV in 2021), the latter marking the Buccaneers' unprecedented victory as the first NFL team to win a Super Bowl on their home field. Beyond football, the facility has hosted the ReliaQuest Bowl annually since 1999, the Gasparilla Bowl since 2018, the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2017, ACC Championship Games, and diverse events ranging from concerts and soccer matches to WrestleMania 37.
