Rideau Cottage, a 22-room Georgian Revival residence in Ottawa, Ontario, was designed by architect Frederick Preston Rubidge and completed in 1867 on the grounds of Rideau Hall. The two-level home, recognized as a federal heritage building of Canada, has historically housed officials associated with the governor general, including the governor general's private secretary. Since 2015, it has served as the prime minister's temporary residence owing to the deteriorating condition of 24 Sussex Drive, the official prime ministerial residence.
