Salesforce Tower, completed in 2018 at 415 Mission Street in San Francisco's South of Market district, is a 61-story, 1,070-foot supertall skyscraper designed by César Pelli. The postmodern obelisk-shaped structure features a distinctive grid of metal fins ascending from base to roof and a glass-and-steel curtain wall supported by a steel frame and concrete core. Built on reclaimed land with load-bearing pillars extending into bedrock, the building incorporates brises soleil on each floor for solar control and employs water conservation and air intake systems as part of its green design. Its crown showcases a public art light sculpture of 11,000 LEDs that displays video animations visible from up to thirty miles away. Developed by Hines Interests Limited Partnership and Boston Properties and completed at over $1.1 billion, it was Pelli's final completed work and now serves as headquarters for the cloud-software company Salesforce. As of 2024, it is the tallest building in San Francisco and the second-tallest west of the Mississippi River.
