San José City Hall, located in downtown San Jose, California, is an 18-story postmodern tower designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Richard Meier. Rising 285 feet (87 meters), it stands as the fourth tallest building in the city and anchors the two-block-long San José Civic Plaza. The structure comprises the main tower, an iconic glass rotunda, and a city council chamber wing arranged within the plaza grounds. Completed in 2005, the building marked the municipal government's return to downtown after fifty years in a northern office park location, capping a period of rapid urban growth during the dot-com boom era.
