Santander Tower, a 50-story modernist skyscraper at 1601 Elm Street in downtown Dallas, was completed in 1982 and designed by HKS Architects. Standing 197 meters (646 feet) tall, it was initially the city's second-tallest building before being surpassed a year later; it now ranks eighth among Dallas's tallest structures. Originally called Thanks-Giving Tower for its proximity to Thanks-Giving Square, the building was renamed Santander Tower in 2020 following acquisition by Banco Santander. The structure connects to both the Dallas Pedestrian Network and the Bullington Truck Terminal. In 2022, plans were announced to convert twelve of its fifty floors into 228 residential units as part of an adaptive reuse project responding to post-pandemic housing demand and shifts in the office market.
