Shanghai IFC is a postmodern twin-tower complex in Lujiazui, Pudong, designed by César Pelli and completed in 2009–2010. The north tower rises 259.9 metres and houses HSBC's Shanghai headquarters, while the slightly shorter south tower, at 249.9 metres, accommodates the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. An 85-metre auxiliary building connects the two towers behind them. Located southeast of the Lujiazui roundabout and directly adjacent to Lujiazui Station on Metro Line 2, the complex functions as both a commercial office and shopping center, featuring an Apple Store set beneath a sunken forecourt topped by a cylindrical glass skylight, a multiplex cinema, Citysuper supermarket, and an array of upscale restaurants and luxury fashion retailers. Developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties—the same firm behind Hong Kong's International Finance Centre—Shanghai IFC occupies a prominent position diagonally across from the Oriental Pearl Tower and maintains integrated pedestrian connections to surrounding developments and Lujiazui Central Park.
