Located in Rah Ahan Square at the foot of Valiasr Street in southern Tehran, the Tehran Railway Station exemplifies early modernistic architecture in West Asia. Originally conceived in 1928–29 by Polish architect Władysław Horodecki, the project passed to experienced Danish railway architect Knud Tanggaard Seest in 1930 after Horodecki's death. Seest substantially revised the design, imposing a highly modern, austere aesthetic that departed markedly from the original plans. Completed and opened in 1930—coinciding with the closure of Tehran's previous tram system—the station represents a significant moment in the city's infrastructural modernization and stands as a designated Iranian National Heritage property.
