The China World Trade Center is a massive mixed-use complex in Chaoyang District, Beijing's central business district, developed over nearly three decades beginning in 1985 and completed in 2010. Comprising approximately fourteen components—including Shangri-La hotels, shopping malls, offices, apartments, convention facilities, and an exhibition hall—it stands as the largest building complex in Beijing and among the world's largest upscale commercial mixed-use developments. The complex was designed in phases by different architectural teams: the original design by Robert Sobel and Emery Roth & Sons with associate architect Nikken Sekkei, while Phase 3 (completed in 2010) was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The most prominent structure is China World Trade Center Tower 3, which rises 330 meters and ranks as the second-tallest building in Beijing. Known as "The Place Where China Meets The World," the complex has earned recognition as an internationally oriented commercial hub.
