Built in 1885 on South Bridge in Victoria, Texas, the Thomas M. O'Connor House exemplifies the era's architectural ambitions through its Italianate style, later remodeled with Classical Revival elements in the early twentieth century. The residence features a distinctive two-story pedimented portico supported by paired two-story columns set on masonry piers. Originally the home of banker Thomas M. O'Connor, who amassed over 500,000 acres of ranch holdings in the decades following the Civil War, the house remained in the prominent O'Connor family's possession into the 1980s. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 as part of a broader survey of Victoria's historic resources, the nomination encompassed two contributing buildings on the property.
