The United Waste Manufacturing Company Building, a historic warehouse in Troy, New York, was constructed around 1902 in the Romanesque Revival style. This six-story, load-bearing masonry structure—also known as the Hudson River Terminal Warehouse Company and colloquially as "The Fortress"—features distinctly fortified architectural elements, including castellated detailing, three blind arcades, and crenellated corner towers. A prominent central tower designed to resemble a castle keep dominates the composition, giving the utilitarian warehouse an unexpectedly romantic and defensive character. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.
