The Wells Fargo Building, originally commissioned as the Fidelity-Philadelphia Trust Company Building, is a 30-story Beaux-Arts skyscraper completed in 1928 in Center City, Philadelphia. Designed by the architectural firm Simon & Simon, the 405-foot limestone and granite structure features an H-shaped profile above the fifth floor, created by recessed bays. Its ornamental program is exceptionally rich: sculpture by the Piccirilli Brothers, 150,000 square feet of marble interior, seven street-level medallions depicting early American coins, and elaborate bronze doors adorned with high-relief panels illustrating the history of commerce and civilization. Bas-relief figures further embellish the spandrels. Long a premier office address, the building faced tenant exodus by the 1980s but has since undergone extensive rehabilitation. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
