Standing 535 feet tall in downtown Jacksonville's southeast corner at Bay and Laura streets, 1 Independent Square is the city's second-tallest building. Completed in 1974 by KBJ Architects, this modern skyscraper was originally known as the Modis Building before Wells Fargo acquired naming rights in 2011, calling it the Wells Fargo Center until 2024, when the building reverted to its current name following the expiration of the sponsorship agreement.
