William Hooper School is a Neoclassical school building in Wilmington, North Carolina, designed by Joseph F. Leitner's firm and constructed in 1914 by Wallace & Osterman. Located on Mears Street between South 4th and South 5th Streets, the Classical Revival structure was named after William Hooper (1742–1790), a Boston-born North Carolina representative and signer of the Declaration of Independence. Eliza Meares served as the school's first principal from its opening in 1914 until 1925. The building operated as a school until 1984, when it was subsequently converted to apartments for the elderly in 1998—the same year it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
