Aiyarappar temple is a Dravidian Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva in Tiruvaiyaru village, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, revered in the 7th-century Tamil Shaiva canonical work Tevaram and known as Dakshina Kailasam (Kailasa of the South). The temple complex, among the state's largest, has foundations laid during the Chola dynasty in the 9th century, with successive expansions continuing through the Thanjavur Nayaks of the 16th century. It features four gopuram gateway towers and multiple shrines, including prominent sanctuaries for Aiyarappar and his consort Dharmasamvardhini. The second precinct, built during the Vijayanagar period, houses notable sculptures. The site participates in the Saptha Stanam festival celebrating seven regional Shiva temples, commemorating the mythological birth of Nandi at this location. Now maintained by the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, the temple observes six daily rituals and twelve yearly festivals.
