Located 11 kilometres west of Westport on New Zealand's West Coast, the Cape Foulwind Lighthouse stands 9 metres tall atop a 70-metre headland overlooking the Tasman Sea in the Buller District. Built in 1876 from concrete, this Heritage New Zealand Category 2 listed structure guides vessels along the Buller coast with an LED light that flashes white once every 12 seconds, reaching 10 nautical miles. Among the most accessible lighthouses in the country, it remains an important navigational aid for shipping in this remote stretch of coastline.
