Located in the Linden-Limmer district of Hanover, the Capitol-Hochhaus is a brick expressionist tower block designed by Friedrich Hartjenstein and completed in 1930. Originally built as a cinema, the structure has been repurposed as a live music venue with a capacity of 1,800, hosting major international artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iggy Pop, and Rory Gallagher. The building retains rooms from its earlier incarnation as a movie theater while serving contemporary performance needs. Recognized as an architectural heritage monument in Lower Saxony, it exemplifies the bold geometric vocabulary of Brick Expressionism, a style that characterized early twentieth-century German modernism.
