Château de Chanteloup was an imposing Baroque château with elaborate gardens in the Loire Valley, located on the south bank of the Loire near Amboise, France. Built beginning in 1583, it became one of the era's most celebrated residences, earning comparisons to Versailles from contemporaries. From 1761 to 1785, the château served as the seat of the Duke of Choiseul, King Louis XV's prime minister. Though largely demolished in 1823, the estate's ornamental park survives, including the striking Pagoda of Chanteloup, which remains a notable landmark and tourist destination.
