Perched in the Meuse department town of Commercy, the Château de Commercy is a baroque residence built in 1747 as the principal seat of the Prince of Commercy. Designed by the architect Emmanuel Héré de Corny and constructed in pale Euville stone, the château exemplifies the elegant classical taste of mid-eighteenth-century Lorraine. Built under the patronage of Charles Henri de Lorraine, the complex encompasses a main building with flanking wings. The site was designated a Monument historique in 1960, with its roofs and façades receiving protected status in 1972, securing its place among France's significant architectural heritage.
