Located in Mitchell, South Dakota, the Corn Palace is a Moorish Revival multi-purpose arena built in 1892 by architects Rapp and Rapp. The building is renowned for its distinctive decoration: elaborate murals and designs covering its exterior are fashioned entirely from corn and other grains, with a new artistic composition created each year. Serving the community as a venue for concerts, sports events, exhibits, and gatherings, the Corn Palace attracts up to 500,000 visitors annually and has become a major tourist destination. It hosts the annual Corn Palace Festival as well as other popular events including the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo and Polka Festival, and provides a home for the basketball teams of Dakota Wesleyan University and Mitchell High School.
