Find out more
Located in Columbia, South Carolina, the Hale-Elmore-Seibels House is a historic Georgian structure believed to date to around 1796, based on a date carved into a basement beam—one of the few clues to its origins, as construction records were destroyed during the Union burning of the city in 1865. Thought to be Columbia's oldest building, it now serves as headquarters for Historic Columbia, a preservation organization, and stands open to the public at 1601 Richland Street. The property features an extensively restored garden that hosts public events and private celebrations.
