Completed in 1962, the Hydro-Québec Building stands 110 metres tall on René-Lévesque Boulevard in Montreal, its 27-storey steel frame embodying the International Style. Designed by Gaston Gagnier, the structure serves as headquarters for Hydro-Québec and houses the Montreal offices of the Premier of Quebec. The boulevard itself commemorates René Lévesque, whose 1963 nationalization of Quebec's hydroelectric companies transformed the province's energy landscape; a bust of Lévesque was unveiled before the building in 2001.
