The Montreal Biosphère is an environmental museum housed in a striking geodesic dome designed by Buckminster Fuller and Shoji Sadao for Expo 67. Built in 1967 on Saint Helen's Island within Parc Jean-Drapeau, the structure originally served as the United States pavilion and exemplifies high-tech architecture through its innovative use of acrylate polymer and steel. Fuller's iconic geodesic design—a sphere composed of interconnected triangular elements—became one of the most recognizable buildings of the era, and the dome's distinctive form continues to define the Montreal skyline today.
