The O.F. Short House near Eagle, Idaho, is a 1½-story residence built in 1906 from native cobblestone quarried from the Boise River, a material choice that architectural historian Patricia Wright deemed unparalleled in Idaho for its scale and ambition. The house blends Queen Anne and Colonial Revival styles, distinguished by a hip roof topped with four dormers and an L-shaped porch featuring battered corner piers that once supported a crenellated parapet—a detail lost to alterations made after 1980. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, the house stands as a notable example of early twentieth-century residential construction in the region.
