Parliament House in Valletta, Malta, is a brutalist structure designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano and completed in 2015. Built between 2011 and 2015 as part of the City Gate Project—which also encompassed a new City Gate and the conversion of the Royal Opera House ruins into an open-air theatre—the building serves as the meeting place of Malta's Parliament. Its starkly modern design proved controversial, particularly given the €90 million construction cost. The purpose-built chamber replaced earlier parliamentary venues: the Tapestry Chamber of the Grandmaster's Palace (used from 1921 to 1976) and a converted armoury within the same palace (1976–2015).
