Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1907, the Pettit Memorial Chapel stands in Belvidere Cemetery in Belvidere, Illinois, as a notable example of Prairie School architecture. This modest funerary structure, which uniquely represents the only cemetery chapel Wright designed that was actually built during his lifetime, embodies the characteristic horizontal lines and organic forms of the Prairie Style. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, the chapel remains a significant testament to Wright's versatile genius and his influence on American architectural design.
