Located at the corner of Nguyen Hue Boulevard and Le Loi Boulevard in Ho Chi Minh City's District 1, the Saigon Tax Trade Centre was a French Colonial and Art Deco department store originally built in 1924 as the Grands Magasins Charner. Operating as a shopping center and tourist destination, it served as a prominent retail hub selling handicrafts, Vietnamese specialties, souvenirs, and food and beverages. The building closed in late September 2014 and was demolished in October 2016 to make way for Satra TAX Plaza, a 40-story complex whose podium retains much of the original structure's design. The site now houses ventilation infrastructure for Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1, with its entrance near the adjacent Opera House station.
