Sakshinatheswarar Temple in Thiruppurambiyam, Tamil Nadu, is a Dravidian Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, worshipped here as Sakshinathar in the form of a Lingam, with his consort Parvati venerated as Ikshuvani. Revered in the 7th-century Tamil Saiva canonical work Thevaram and classified as a Paadal Petra Sthalam, the temple was constructed in its present masonry form during the 16th-century Nayak period. The two-acre complex features two gopurams, or gateway towers, the western tower rising five storeys to 72 feet, and houses prominent shrines dedicated to Sakshinathar, Ikshuvani, and Dakshinamurthy. The temple maintains six daily rituals between 6:00 a.m. and 9 p.m., and observes twelve yearly festivals, with the Maasi Magam festival celebrated in February or March as the most significant celebration. The temple is currently administered by Madurai Adheenam.
