The Stardust Resort and Casino was a sprawling 60-acre casino resort on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada, that opened on July 2, 1958, as the world's largest hotel. Conceived by Tony Cornero, whose death in 1955 delayed the project, it was completed under the ownership of Rella Factor and opened with 1,065 rooms across six motel structures and a 16,500-square-foot casino. The resort expanded significantly over its decades of operation: the adjacent Royal Nevada was absorbed in 1959, a nine-story tower was added in 1964, and a 32-story high-rise tower was constructed in 1990 under Boyd family ownership. The Stardust became known for pioneering innovations, including the first RV park on the Strip (opened in 1972) and an influential sportsbook added in 1975. The resort operated until its demolition in 2007.
