The William J. Murphy House, located at 923 North 13th Street in Fort Smith, Arkansas, is a 2½-story brick residence built around 1895 and among the city's most refined examples of Classical Revival design. The rectangular structure exhibits sophisticated neoclassical proportions with a hipped main roofline and asymmetric detail, including paired projections flanking a raised hip-roof porch at the third level. The left projection features a small window set within a jerkin-headed gable pediment, while the right displays a small hipped element crowning its section. A full-width single-story porch supported by paired columns and decorated with an entablature of garlands anchors the front facade. The house was built by a local saddle and harness manufacturer and earned listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
