The Adi Kesava Temple in Mylapore, Chennai, is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Vishnu, worshipped here as Adi Kesava Perumal alongside his consort Lakshmi as Mayuravalli Thayar. Built in the Tamil Dravidian architectural style, the temple holds significance as the legendary birthplace of Peyalvar, an Alvar saint, and is recognized as one of the 108 Abhimana Kshethram in the Vaishnava tradition. The temple's Chithra Kulam tank, believed to be of ancient origin, serves as a major rainwater collection facility for the region. The float festival celebrated during the Tamil month of Thai remains the temple's most prominent celebration. Administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of Tamil Nadu, the temple operates with six daily rituals and is open to devotees throughout the day.
