Built in 1914–15 for the growing municipality of Dothan, Alabama, this Neoclassical opera house was designed by the Atlanta firm Morris & Morris in a blend of Classical Revival and Italianate styles. Opening on October 8, 1915, with a performance by a local orchestra, the 800-seat venue features a refined classical façade: three central arched entry doors on the ground floor, flanked by paired arched windows, and an upper story articulated by Ionic pilasters (four in the center, three on each side) supporting a limestone architrave beneath a denticulated cornice. Atop the parapet stand figurines of opera singers aligned with the center columns. The interior backdrop features a mural depicting the building's construction and celebrated performers. The structure was refurbished in 1971 when a new civic center opened across the street, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
