The Honolulu Museum of Art, designed by architect Bertram Goodhue in Mediterranean Revival style and opened in 1927, is Hawaii's largest art museum. Founded by Anna Rice Cooke in 1922, the institution houses one of the most extensive collections of Asian and Pan-Pacific art in the United States, with its holdings grown to more than 55,000 works since its official opening on April 8, 1927. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum remains a significant cultural repository in Honolulu.
