The New Palace (Neues Schloss) is a Baroque château on the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart, Germany, beside the Jubiläumssäule column and the Königsbau. Commissioned by Duke Carl Eugen of Württemberg early in his reign to replace the Old Castle, it is one of the last large city palaces built in Southern Germany. Nikolaus Friedrich Thouret was first engaged, with Leopoldo Retti, Philippe de La Guêpière and Reinhard Heinrich Ferdinand Fischer also contributing to its design and construction. Heavily bombed in World War II, it was left as a shell before rebuilding was agreed in 1957.
