Thanthoneeswarar Temple is a 9th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, located in Woraiyur, a suburb of Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu. Built by the Pandya ruler Varaguna Pandiyan II, the temple features Dravidian architecture and bears inscriptions from 885 AD, the Chola period. The temple maintains four daily rituals spanning from early morning to evening and observes three annual festivals, including the prominent valaigkappu (bangle festival) celebrated in the Tamil month of Thai. The site is associated with a local legend in which Shiva aided Chola Queen Kanthimathi during childbirth. The temple is administered by hereditary trustees.
