The Lowell is a Colonial Revival apartment house built in 1900 at 33 Lexington Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts, designed by local architect John Hasty. This rare triple-decker multiunit building in the Brattle Street area outside Harvard Square features a swan's neck pediment above its center entry, with matching pediment detailing above the central second-story windows. Doric pilasters divide the front facade bays, while distinctive side porches extend the building's horizontal massing. Constructed before wealthy Brattle Street residents successfully lobbied to route Cambridge's electrified trolleys to Mount Auburn Street rather than Brattle, the Lowell predates the subsequent decline in multiunit housing development in the neighborhood. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
