Tirunallar Saniswaran Temple, dedicated to Shiva, stands in Thirunallar village in Karaikal district, Puducherry. The sprawling complex, covering roughly 2 acres, is entered through a five-tiered gopuram and contains multiple shrines—most notably those of Shiva as Dharbaranyeswarar, his consort Praneswari Amman, Shani, and Somaskanda. Built in Dravidian style, the temple's masonry structure dates to the 9th-century Chola dynasty, with later expansions undertaken by Vijayanagar rulers. Concentric rectangular granite walls enclose all shrines. The temple maintains a rigorous schedule of six daily rituals and observes four annual festivals, with Mahasivarathri in March–April being the most prominent for Shiva and Sanipeyarchi, occurring every 2.5 years, most significant for Shani. The temple is administered by the Government of Puducherry's Department of Hindu Religious Institutions.
